It was an action – packed and exciting football display across the four designated venues of the second edition of the Ikorodu Constituency II All Stars Unity Cup kick – off at the weekend.
Spectators trooped out to watch their teams in action in Igbogbo, Elepe, Ijede and Imota.
According to the Media Director/Personal Assistant to Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), representative Ikorodu Constituency II, Mr Rasaq Kabiru Babatunde, in a statement released the tournament kicked off with thrilling and hard-fought matches across four centres, electrifying fans and setting the tone for a fiercely competitive tournament.

Group A – Ijede Centre
The opening clash between All Stars Ijede and Explorer All Stars ended in a stalemate; a goalless draw that left fans on the edge of their seats but hungry for more. Both teams displayed strong defensive discipline, blocking attempts with precision, but the final whistle saw no breakthrough.
Adding an extra layer of excitement to the Ijede Centre was the presence of Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency II. As the host of the tournament and captain of the Ijede All Stars team, Dr. Aro Moshood showcased impressive skills on the pitch, inspiring teammates and rallying the crowd with his leadership and football prowess.

In the second fixture at Ijede, Igbe All Stars faced a tough challenge against Elepe All Stars. Despite their spirited efforts, Igbe could only manage a solitary goal while Elepe’s attacking prowess shone through with a dominant 4-1 victory. The Elepe side’s fluid passing and sharp finishing left defenders chasing shadows, thrilling the crowd with a spectacle of attacking football.
Group B – Imota Centre
The Imota Centre witnessed a comprehensive performance by Igbogbo All Stars, who tore through Be Happy All Stars with a commanding 4-0 win. Igbogbo’s forwards were clinical in front of the goal post, exploiting defensive lapses and delighting fans with their skill and speed.
Meanwhile, in a gritty contest, Igbalu All Stars succumbed 1-3 to Oke Eletu All Stars. Oke Eletu showed resilience and tactical discipline, striking at key moments to seal the victory in a match marked by intense midfield battles and strategic play.

Group C – Igbogbo Centre
The Igbogbo Centre hosted a tense showdown where Makbet All Stars and Offin Ile All Stars fought tooth and nail to a 2-2 draw. Both teams demonstrated offensive tactical moves with powerful shots and well-executed set pieces, keeping supporters at the edge of their seats until the final whistle.
In contrast, Tira All Stars struggled to find their rhythm, succumbing 0-4 to a dominant Imota All Stars side. Imota’s relentless pressure and clinical finishing overwhelmed Tira’s defence, resulting in a one-sided affair that highlighted Imota’s championship credentials.
Group D – Elepe Centre
At Elepe Centre, Alabiamo All Stars and Nwannedi Namba Igbogbo battled to a hard-earned 1-1 draw, with both sides exchanging blows and showcasing impressive teamwork and resilience in front of vociferous fans.

The final match of the week saw Otugbuwa All Stars falter against Accord All Stars, who secured a convincing 3-0 victory. Accord’s solid defence and quick counter-attacks frustrated Otugbuwa who struggled to create clear chances under the relentless pressure.
The legislative aide of Hon (Dr) AMA furthered in the statement that, “Week One of the Ikorodu Constituency II All Stars Unity Championship 2025 delivered an explosive start filled with goals, drama, and unforgettable moments. The involvement of prominent figures like Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun not only elevated the spirit of the competition but also reinforced the unity and community focus of the tournament.”
